There is a span of the Great Wall that follows a high mountain ridge to the south from the eastern end and southernmost point of the Mutianyu Great Wall before ending abruptly at the top of a steep peak. This wall is about 0.87 kilometers (0.54 miles) in length. Most of it is in excellent original condition as it was left by the Ming Dynasty. There are a few spots that are badly damaged towards the northern end.
