Section hiking on the Great Wall

A section hike is one step up from a day hike. You pick a beginning point and an ending point and you hike from the start to the finish. Section hikes generally take from two days up to about a week. At night, you will sleep in towers along the Great Wall, in your tent, in guest houses, or in people's homes. Often part of the route for a section hike is off the Great Wall, perhaps because of a gap in the wall or a dangerous or fragile area that must be bypassed.

Separate section hikes can be combined to become extended hikes or thru-hikes.
